Hank Williams Jr.’s ‘Hitler’ Comparison Got Him Pulled from ESPN

It didn’t take long for ESPN to respond to Hank Williams Jr.’s nonsensical, offensive comparison of a John Boehner-President Obama golf game with “Hitler playing golf with [Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin] Netanyahu” yesterday on Fox & Friends. It seems the singer was mad at Obama, admitting that his analogy was “extreme” in a statement. The “Worldwide Leader in Sports” didn’t seem to find that answer sufficient. Last night, the network promptly pulled his “All My Rowdy Friends” from the opening of Monday Night Football. Which had to throw off the night’s ritual of those watching the Indianapolis-Tampa Bay game for a brief moment or two, considering the song has been played on ABC and ESPN since 1991. As NPR noted, “It was not clear whether the removal of the song would be permanent or temporary.”
